John Gardner has been a highly valued source of first-hand information on the Marines of Midway.  He was a corporal with the 6th Marine Defense Battalion during the famous battle, but he also has provided unique insight on the lesser known “first Battle of Midway” on the night of 7 December 1941 (see pages 45-47 in No Right to Win).  For more of John’s Midway story, click here .
