THE MIDWAY VETERANS OF NO RIGHT TO WIN:

CAPT STANFORD E. LINZEY, CHC, USN-Retired

Linzey in the chapel aboard USS Hornet (CV-12) for the 61st BOM anniversary, 2003.

Stan Linzey was a musician in USS Yorktown’s band, and experienced all the drama of his shipmates during the carrier’s ordeal in both the Coral Sea and at Midway.  His personal story of both battles can be found in his book, God Was at Midway, which was also published in a second edition under the title, The USS Yorktown at Midway.

Linzey subsequently went to divinity school and continued his naval career as a chaplain.  He was a frequent contributor to the Roundtable’s analyses of the BOM and supplied several anecdotes for No Right to Win.
